Troubleshooting common Monocle Search Issues

Search Results
PDF Content isn't showing in search
- Are you using Core or Professional tier? Only those come with PDF search.
- Is your Squarespace site currently password protected? Monocle cannot index your PDFs in this case. Remove the password and see if it works as inteded after recrawling the site.
- Monocle does not index PDFs behind a paywall / Member site. This is a restriction based on how Squarespace saves the PDFs. Please reach out to us if this is an issue for you.
Pages are missing from search results
There are various reasons why this can be the case:
- Check your settings in "Exclude Pages" to make sure you haven't accidentally excluded them.
- Are the missing pages Member-only sites? Then you need the Monocle Professional plan to show their content.
- Recrawl your site from the "Site overview" screen by clicking on "Crawl again now".
- If you're on the free plan, there will be a maximum of 30 pages indexed. If you have more pages, upgrade to index and show all of them.
- Finally, Monocle automatically excludes a selection of pages from Squarespace, notably pages that are effectively an overview of a collection of other pages. You cannot change this setting, but you can reach out to us at support@monocle-search.com and we'll help you out.
